South Lodge, Everingham

Refurbishment and extension, 2009

This 1841 gate house on the southern boundary of an East Riding Estate which is Grade II listed by association with the main house was offered for sale. Its small proportions and footprint made it a developer's challenge.

Working closely with the Conservation Officer a scheme was developed which more than double the size of the building and improved the accommodation.

The project was awarded the Best Small House Extension and was a winner of The Chairman's Award for Enhancing the East Riding of Yorkshire.
